Space is key to monitoring ocean acidification

Cover image: Satellite derived synoptic scale observations of AT in μmol kg-1 for the Amazon Plume between August 2011 and June 2015.

The use of satellites has not yet been thoroughly explored as an option for routinely observing ocean surface chemistry, but a paper published by member of the OceanSODA team in the journal Remote Sensing of Environment describes how scientists are testing new ways of merging different datasets to estimate and ultimately monitor ocean acidification.
